Sharing Learning Journeys at TF LEaRN 2019 Young Asian Leaders Forum

28 Oct 2019

At the Temasek Foundation Leadership Enrichment and Regional Networking (TF LEaRN) Young Asian Leaders Forum held on 17 October 2019 at the National University of Singapore (NUS), TF LEaRN participants from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), NUS, Singapore Management University (SMU) and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) presented a joint showcase of global experiences. Participants shared life-changing moments, cultural experiences and learning journeys with their peers.

With the theme of Youth Leaders Today: Uniting Nations for a Peaceful and Sustainable Future, the forum featured keynote sessions and a panel discussion, where the role of youths in shaping the future was discussed in detail.

Tan Yu Xiang, an SUTD student who went to Zhejiang University for his exchange, said, “I have learnt many skills, explored many places, experienced a foreign culture and discovered more about myself. I have met many new friends, experienced the way they live and learn, came in touch with a part of the society that needs more help and most importantly, had many memorable experiences and made many new friends. These are the valuable takeaways from this programme, and I am sure it has made me a better person as well as a better leader.”

The TF LEaRN programme started in 2007 and provides opportunities for youth leaders across Asia to take part in cultural exchange, networking, community engagement and leadership development. The programme aims to foster international exchange and build regional and interpersonal networks amongst the participants. In the process, participants will develop a better understanding of diverse backgrounds and cultures and have a chance to collaborate on complex, multi-disciplinary issues that occur across national and cultural borders.
